Why TAKE a Singapore Food Tour?
“The satay man, usually Malay, would bring his skewers and peanut sauce to Chinese communities, just as the Chinese noodle man would appear in Indian-dominant enclaves,”
– Lily Kong, author of Singapore Hawker Centres: People, Places, Food
Learn the Origins of Singapore Street Food
Street hawkers, many of whom were immigrants themselves, cooked dishes from their homelands using local ingredients adapted to suit the multicultural tastes of the community, resulting in the birth of Singaporean cuisine. Today, hawker centres and kopitiams (coffee houses) are vibrant hubs where local food continues to thrive.
This food tour dives into Singapore’s culture where you get to taste authentic local foods at family-run hawker stalls nestled in vibrant neighbourhoods. In short, eat like a local!
Walk and Eat with a Local Resident
When it comes to eating in a hawker centre, we do it the Singaporean way. Your local resident and expert guide will walk you through our social quirks while introducing you to locals’ way of life. Whether that be exploring the local neighbourhoods of Queenstown and Bukit Merah in Local Neighbourhoods: Singapore Food Tour or experiencing our vibrant cultures in Tea & Tiffin: Little India Walking tour, this is a great opportunity to experience the real Singapore with a local resident.

– Khair Johari, Author, Food of Singapore Malays
Posted on Rovik Robert We planned a team bonding session for our international team to learn more about Singapore and had a great time with our very knowledgeable tour guide who added a lot of personality and her own stories to the mix. The tour is very manageable effort-wise and I really appreciated the flexibility on the team’s end.Posted on Jennifer Nasser Rachel gave us a great tour of the Chinese heritage museum and Chinatown. She kept the kids engaged and very interested ! Highly recommend !Posted on Javier Suarez Rachel was a great tour guide! Very friendly, made great conversation, and taught us a lot about the city. I would love to have her as a tour guide again!Posted on Lindsey Blau We had an amazing food tour with Rachel! She was super informative, accommodating, and had great energy. We loved all of the food stops that she chose for us. Thank you for the great introduction to Singapore!Posted on Anne Shandy We enjoyed a private walking tour of Singapore's Little India and Chinatown, led by Rachel (in July). Our family of five (aged 18, 20, 22 and 57) appreciated the communication to help us prepare for the day, the thoughtful planning to accommodate our preferences for what we wanted to see or eat and also the consideration for the sweltering heat. The tour was mostly outdoor but we had nice breaks to cool down and get some refreshments. We all learned a lot about Singapore's rich cultural heritage and history. I would highly recommend if you just want to get out to see Singapore through a local's perspective. Some highlights included: experiencing the MRT, seeing the street art / murals in both Little India and Chinatown, trying some local fruits, drinks and food from Chinatown's Maxwell Food Center, Thian Hock Keng temple, Buddha Tooth Relic Temple, and views of the city...just to mention a few.Posted on Valerie Tsang We had a wonderful time on our food tour with our guide, Rachel. She was very friendly, fluent in English and very informative. Would 10/10 recommend!Posted on A W What a fascinating private 4 hour tour we had with Swee Lin who shared intriguing historical facts, while we explored so much of Singapore's vibrant multiculturalism. We opted for Grab transport to make the most of our time, so worth it. On our next visit to Singapore we'll definitely book another tour with Rachel and Swee Lin. Thanks for a great tour!Posted on Ellen R We had 4 excellent days of touring with Culture Curious Singapore Tours … starting with an outstanding architectural tour which doubled as a great introduction to Singapore followed by a wonderful food tour, a cultural neighborhood tour, and finally a tour centered on WW II history in Singapore. We have had *many* tours around the world and I can say with confidence that these were some of the best. Not only are Rachel, Kelvin and Chris highly knowledgeable, they went above and beyond taking care of us with tips, links, taxi help, and much much more. We felt completely welcomed and comfortable with all of them, so not only did we learn what we came for, but we chatted about anything else that came up … from how real Singaporeans afford to live, to wedding customs, to durian tasting, to public transportation and so much more!!! Consummate professionals, Rachel and co personified gracious hospitality and joy in sharing their city and country with us. We would highly recommend Culture Curious to anyone.Posted on cody engle As a very seasoned world traveler, I have interacted with local guides across the world. That said, Culture Curious is among the best guiding experiences I have ever had! Owner, Rachel Chen and her team provide me and my family a world class experience over 3 days of guiding.Knowledgable both of history and current conditions, all questions (I ask a lot) were answered with wisdom and insight. Our family group ranged from 22years to 85. All physical and culinary needs, while diverse, were handled with grace. I sought proposals from three local guiding companies. Culture Curious promptly provided a comprehensive proposal at very reasonable pricing. As ann added bonus, Rachel quickly responded to my pre-arrival emails seeking restaurant, taxi and other advice. If you need guiding services in Singapore, Culture Curious is your best choice.
