A selection of past experiences we've delivered
Overseas University for their MBA Programme
We customised a holistic Singapore educational tour focussing on two main areas - Singapore's development, and city highlights with street food tastings for over 120 MBA students. Honing in on our professional expertise in public education within city planning and development, the tour focussed on the challenges and milestones in Singapore's urban transformation journey. In addition to showing students around Little India, Kampong Glam and Chinatown Singapore, we included street food tastings so they get to eat like a local in a popular hawker centre.
Overseas University for their MBA Programme
The client wanted a tour that combines hidden gems with architectural highlights within the city. We designed a tour that only covered key areas such as Civic District and Marina Bay but also went off the tourist trail to a hyperlocal neighbourhood so the students got to visit a public housing estate and understand the local life.
Local Arts Institution
The arts institution hosted ASEAN student delegates in a festival led by local students and local teaching faculty. The brief was to customise an art-focussed tour experience. We designed a trail that enabled students to explore the history and lesser known stories of key arts venues including National Gallery Singapore, Art House and select art sites. We also topped off the experience with tour of the city as most delegates were new to Singapore, and commented that they had a wonderful and enriching experience immersing in Singapore's arts and culture.
Local Primary School
For a local primary school, we curated a comprehensive tour of of Tiong Bahru that highlighted its history and lesser known stories. The educators also wanted to pair the experience with Chinatown that culminated with a food tasting and tea appreciation session.
Local Secondary School
Educators were treated to a morning of curious exploration in the charming neighbourhood of Little India. We adapted the Tea & Tiffin: Little India Walking Tours for the educators who were mostly from Singapore so they get to discover lesser known stories of the historic streets and traditions that immigrants introduced to Singapore.
Some of Our Fabulous Clients

Testimonials from Some of Our Clients
We engaged Rachel and her team for the tours of Singapore City Gallery and City Highlights and were extremely pleased with her team's delivery! Our MBA students learnt a lot about Singapore's development at Singapore City Gallery as the guides highlighted innovative solutions that Singapore undertakes to tackle land scarcity through a series of exhibits, including the large architectural model of Singapore's central area. We also visited must-see places and of course Marina Bay where we learnt about its urban transformation over the years. Rachel and her team were outstanding and knowledgeable, I would request them again!
- WHU - Otto Beisheim School of Management
We had an amazing afternoon spending time learning the history of Tiong Bahru followed by a cultural immersion tour in Chinatown. In addition, the street food tasting was an excellent experience. Thank you Culture Curious!
- Ministry of Education
Little India Walking Tour was an eye-opening experience even for our group comprising mainly locals. Rachel shared passionately about the lesser known stories of the communities living and working in the area, allowing us to better appreciate the diverse cultures in Singapore. We enjoyed the tasting and a special DIY popiah session, a wonderful end to our walking tour in Little India.

Posted on A W What a fascinating private 4 hour tour we had with Swee Lin who shared intriguing historical facts, while we explored so much of Singapore's vibrant multiculturalism. We opted for Grab transport to make the most of our time, so worth it. On our next visit to Singapore we'll definitely book another tour with Rachel and Swee Lin. Thanks for a great tour!Posted on Ellen R We had 4 excellent days of touring with Culture Curious Singapore Tours … starting with an outstanding architectural tour which doubled as a great introduction to Singapore followed by a wonderful food tour, a cultural neighborhood tour, and finally a tour centered on WW II history in Singapore. We have had *many* tours around the world and I can say with confidence that these were some of the best. Not only are Rachel, Kelvin and Chris highly knowledgeable, they went above and beyond taking care of us with tips, links, taxi help, and much much more. We felt completely welcomed and comfortable with all of them, so not only did we learn what we came for, but we chatted about anything else that came up … from how real Singaporeans afford to live, to wedding customs, to durian tasting, to public transportation and so much more!!! Consummate professionals, Rachel and co personified gracious hospitality and joy in sharing their city and country with us. We would highly recommend Culture Curious to anyone.Posted on cody engle As a very seasoned world traveler, I have interacted with local guides across the world. That said, Culture Curious is among the best guiding experiences I have ever had! Owner, Rachel Chen and her team provide me and my family a world class experience over 3 days of guiding.Knowledgable both of history and current conditions, all questions (I ask a lot) were answered with wisdom and insight. Our family group ranged from 22years to 85. All physical and culinary needs, while diverse, were handled with grace. I sought proposals from three local guiding companies. Culture Curious promptly provided a comprehensive proposal at very reasonable pricing. As ann added bonus, Rachel quickly responded to my pre-arrival emails seeking restaurant, taxi and other advice. If you need guiding services in Singapore, Culture Curious is your best choice.Posted on Elizabeth Brown (Liz) Wonderful tour - do not hesitate to book this. We booked a four hour option. It was a great day, even with the 90 degrees F heat. My mom, who is 86, was on the tour with me. Working with Swee Lin, we modified the initial itinerary to add some breaks and some indooor walking. Swee Lin’s cultural and historical knowledge is unparalleled. We learned a lot, and ended the tour with an even greater appreciation of this unique country and its blend of cultures. We only wish she was available for another tour tomorrow!Posted on Gary Winch An amazing private tour with Rachel who shared very interesting parts of the city with us as well as history and cultural details. She followed up with links for some of the places we visited and suggestions for us during our day of touring Singapore tomorrow. I would definitely sign up for this private tour in the future and would request Rachel if I could. This was one of the most memorable parts of our visit to Singapore. Through visits to Singapore City Gallery and Pinnacle @ Duxton, we were able to gain a much deeper understanding of Singapore’s urban planning and public housing system. It was far more than a typical sightseeing tour — it was a meaningful learning experience about the city’s development, housing, community, and liveability. The guide answered every question sincerely and in great detail, and the explanations were clear, thoughtful, and well structured. The Korean interpreter was also highly professional and made the tour much easier and more comfortable to follow. From the booking process to the tour itself, everything was handled with kindness and care. Our whole group was very satisfied, and I would highly recommend this tour to anyone interested in urban planning, public housing, placemaking, and community development.Posted on betty ann robustelli Amazing Tour with Kelvin !! He’s a wealth of knowledge about Singapore History, culture, food, and infrastructure. He’s very funny and charming on top of everything.!Posted on Molly Harwood Had an amazing experience on our tour with Kelvin! Multiple markets, incredible bites, and thorough cultural and historical lessons along the way! Kelvin was fun balanced with exceptional knowledge of the country, the region, the cultures, and the food! Each stall has its own history, which Kelvin always made a point to ensure we understood. We met the people behind the food and watched as Kelvin engaged with a community he’s clearly built over years of being wonderful at his work! Deeply recommend!

Highly Interesting and Relevant to Our Interests In Understanding Culture, Visual Arts and Architecture
penny, Australia
Curious about the Singaporean Art scene, we were looking to increase our knowledge and also seek hints and tips of how to spend our remaking days here. Rachel was most informative and clear in her descriptions of historical facts, with relevant visuals to support each topic. We were enamoured by the content she spoke of and she was happy to answer the MANY questions we had that deviated from her intial plan. This was a most enjoyable half day tour and we have loads of links to further sites to visit. We would recommend this to anyone wanting a clear grounding in Singaporean history, culture, art and architecture, it was totally enjoyable.
If the Best is Not Enough, Rachel Sure is!
- Christian, Austria
I hardly write a review, but when I do, then it's because the experience/service delivered was outstanding. Rachel is not just a tour guide who shows you around to places. She is a very kind and well educated person which attributes tremendously to the experience. I contacted her with my wishes and the itinerary couldn't have matched better than what I'd expected. She also has a very calm personality which helps to fully immerse in the scenery where she shows you around and the information she provides with it. Never I got the feeling it's just a run-of-the-mill and rushing to the next place. At different points throughout the tour I enjoyed to discuss with her several topics like education system in Singapore or in general social topics but also environmental ones. And for each topic she also provided knowledgeable information and integrated it seamlessly into the tour (like public subsidised housing). Rachel is really a gem and I can recommend her tour to anyone in a heartbeat.
A well-crafted tour with a refreshing perspective of Historical Singapore
- Archblood, Singapore
Tour guide Rachel has shown much zest in helping us to understand more about historical Singapore. Her energetic delivery of the past behind each place that we went — whether it’s Thian Hock Keng Temple, the Fullerton Building, or National Gallery Singapore — filled us up with little known facts that you may not find in a generalised presentation of the city-state. And she was very confident to answer our questions in respect to these things. Highly recommended if you want a refreshed perspective of familiar and lesser-known places.
