What to Expect

Situated on the city fringe, Little India embodies a fusion of cultures, offering a glimpse into everyday life in Singapore.

We'll meet at Little India MRT Station and start the tour at a local wet market in Tekka Centre. Be greeted by the chatter of residents making a beeline for fresh produce. See spice makers and market vendors in action and get acquainted with our street food culture as you learn to order street food like a local.
Stroll along Serangoon Road, one of Singapore's oldest roads and learn about indentured labour in the former British settlement and its connection to the district.

Sri Veeramakaliaman Temple is most known for being a significant place of worship among the Hindu community. Not only that, it was also a former place of refuge during the Japanese War Occupation. Your expert guide will point out the time-honored traditions and customs central to Hindu worship and its impact on early immigrants.

Along hidden streets and alleyways, we will also see vibrant street art and flower garland makers. See a selection of architecture such as Tan Teng Niah House and conserved shophouses, plus a bonus stop at a public housing estate with sweeping views of the city. A visit to Little India is not complete without seeing Campbell Lane and Little India Arcade. From fruits and spices to flower garlands and cultural paraphernalia, Little India Singapore is a feast of sights and sounds highly recommended for the culturally curious!

We really had a great time with Rachel who is really friendly and gave us all the interesting details about little India and Singapore culture. Highly recommend taking this Little India Walking Tour with Culture Curious! Visiting the Singapore community in this way, it is impossible for ordinary people to walk into the Singapore HDB estates by themselves. Rachel will guide you to understand the life style of Singaporeans and the impact of the fusion of various cultures unlike a generalised city tour, which makes exploring Singapore more interesting!

Rachel is an exceptional guide who takes time to familiarise with us and has enriched us with tidbits of information on the historical background of the sites seen at Little India. Her rich knowledge of the place is clearly demonstrated in her bringing us to places where we can get magnificent bird's eye view of the landscape of Little India. Depsite the heavy rain, she was flexible in the tour schedule and was accommodating in checking with our schedule and extending the tour to 4 hrs to ensure that we still get to enjoy the full experience of the tour when the rain died down. The impressive depth and range of places, food and information covered makes it worth the price for this Little India Walking Tour.

Corliss was an amazing tour guide and gave us a solid introduction to Little India. We visited places and a couple of hidden streets with cool street art that we wouldn't have known! We also went to the Indian temple and visited shops on Serangoon Road where Corliss pointed out interesting details on traditional attire of local Indian women and significance of the gold jewellery in the Indian culture. We were fed a delicious variety of street food at a crowded hawker centre and wet market complex. Cutleries and serviettes were all provided for so we didn't need to bring along anything for the tour! Would highly recommend a Little India tour as we felt we walked away with a greater appreciation for SIngapore's vibrant communities.
