Street Art
Spot amazing street along busy streets and on the back walls of old shophouses. One of our favorites is 'Medley Alley,' an eclectic mural by Nicia Lam, Valerie Neo, Novena Angela, and Yillish Lam. It resembles wings made of colourful tiles, offering a joyful interpretation of iconic Peranakan tiles.
Cat Socrates
Popular with locals and travellers alike, this independent local shop packs a wide range of local gifts with heritage and quirky themes. Store locations in Joo Chiat and Tiong Bharu.
What to Eat & Drink
Kim Choo Kueh Chang is best known for its glutinous rice dumplings and traditional kueh kueh. The latter refers to sweet or savoury cakes that come in various forms, including baked, steamed, fried, or grilled; typically enjoyed warm, chilled, or at room temperature.
Enjoy a cuppa while admiring the vestiges of history at Starbucks! Built in 1928, the former Joo Chiat Police Station now houses Starbucks. Furnished with natural wood, the space brims with natural light and features vibrant artworks by local artist Danielle Tay.
Their signature steamed rice cakes are made from rice flour and wrapped with a delicious filling of palm sugar and grated coconut. Drop in for a tea-time treat while exploring the surrounding areas of Joo Chiat!
